I Like both Work and Meditation

This is a snippet of episode #128 Derek Sivers Reloaded – On Success Habits and Billionaires with Perfect Abs. Tim Ferriss asks Derek what he’s world-class at that people might not realize.

“I’ve got the world’s longest attention span. I’ll just sit down and do one task for 12 hours straight, or all day for 30 days in a row.”

I can proudly say I can do the same after years of practice. However…

“People ask if I meditate or do yoga, but no.”

“My daily life feels like working meditation.”

“Even being with my kid is like meditation, as you can tell.”

Work doesn’t feel like meditation to me, no matter how hard I try. I just cannot replicate Derek’s experience. I go back to my old meditation practice.

I start every morning with a 25-minute meditation session; that’s how I acquire peace of mind and prime the day ahead.

I like both work and meditation, but not working meditation.
