Software Daily is the Gateway to Engineering Knowledge
Ten months after becoming a programmer, I still felt like I’m an imposter.
When I was coding at the company, I buried my head and just coded. I had a strong urge to catch up with the high standard of the programmer who sat next to me, having a decade of experience in programming. After I was off from work and went home, I constantly looked for resources to improve my engineering knowledge.
There are hundreds or even thousands of software engineering podcasts, but I still only listen to Software Daily on a constant basis. Because Derek was a guest on this show. More importantly, I actually learned a lot from this show for the software engineering side of things (not business).
In his episode, Derek talks about a lot of unusual approaches (some seem a little bit crazy) he takes toward programming.
I’ve been mimicking his approaches for a long period of time. The podcast makes me know I don’t have to be religious about my hero’s approach. Even though he’s the one who inspired me to become a programmer at the first place, I know I can always deviate from his programmer journey down the road.
Derek Sivers is the gateway to the ocean of philosophical knowledge.
